Following on from our previous post about the best fondue restaurants in and around Geneva here’s a recent discovery we hope you will enjoy as much as we did!

Perched only 6 km away from the Col de la Faucille in Gex (France), Le Refuge de Florimont serves up some delicious alpine specialities such as tartiflette, potencereblochonnade, raclette, fondue, pierrade and Gexiflette.

This is the perfect place to bring family and friends when they come over to visit not only for its traditional alpine interiors and stunning views over Mont Blanc, but also for the authentic dining experience.

In the past, Swiss and French alpine labourers used to place their cheese close to the fire until the cheese started to melt and then scraped it off with a knife.

Here at Le Refuge de Florimont you can get one step closer to this traditional form of raclette dining, as the cheese is served on an old-time metal machine filled with burning embers. It does get very hot at the table but it’s such a fun and unique dining experience that everyone will remember it!
