The agenda for December 2012 at MAMCO, Geneva’s Musée d’art moderne et contemporain, is filled with great events that are free of charge thanks to the support of the Fondation Lombard Odier.

If you’d like to find out more about Switzerland’s biggest contemporary art museum, here’s some dates for your diary:
- Thursday 20th December 2012: LAST CHRISTMAS ! XMAS PARTY 2012 from 8pm to 5am
Villa Magica Records, Mamco & le Centre d’art have come together to organize this fantastic Xmas party at the SIP club in Plainpalais. The concept of this party was launched in 2003 by Genevan artist Sylvie Fleury, along with John M Armleder & Stéphane Armleder.
This year’s edition will have quite an iconoclastic theme: “La fin du monde”, this is a fun night out for grown-ups only and not the little ones ! The decor is by John M. Armleder and the music by Stéphane Armleder, with a mix of local and international DJs, including Orgasmic et Gerwald Rockenschaub.
1. MUSÉE GRATUIT
On the first Sunday of each month MAMCO organizes a guided tour in French beginning at 3pm. The date for December is Sunday 2nd, don’t miss it !
On the first Wednesday of each month, entry to the museum is free for the ‘Nocturnes‘, special guided visits that take place from 6pm to 9pm. Visits in French are at 6pm and at 7pm in English. The December ‘Nocturnes‘ will be on Wednesday 5th.
These visits are free and require no previous booking.
2. MAMCO for Children
MAMCO organizes some fab activities for the little muffins, here’s a list of the upcoming ‘rendez-vous’ in December:
- Sunday 2nd December 2012 at 11.15am: “Si je pouvais choisir une chambre, ce serait…” Fun and interactive tour in French for children aged 5-10 accompanied by an adult.
- Mini Rendez-vous Wednesday 5th December 2012 at 3.15pm for young chidren aged 2-4 accompanied by an adult. The theme will be “Des cailloux dans mes poches” (in French).
- Wednesday 5th December 2012 at 3.15pm: “Quelle est cette matière?” Fun and interactive tour in French for children aged 5-10 accompanied by an adult.
- Wednesday 12th December 2012 at 3.15pm: “Envoyez-moi une carte postale!” Fun and interactive tour in French for children aged 5-10 accompanied by an adult.
- Wednesday 19th December 2012 at 3.15pm: “Baignade, été comme hiver” Fun and interactive tour in French for children aged 5-10 accompanied by an adult.
- Wednesday 26thDecember 2012 at 3.15pm: “Le plastique c’est fantastique!” Fun and interactive tour in French for children aged 5-10 accompanied by an adult.
The kids tours are free of charge and require no previous booking so make the most of them !
